Freddie Covington – Senior Vice President, Head of Marketing and Cross Border, Asia Pacific, Visa
Freddie leads Visa marketing in more than 40 Asian markets and manages all aspects of Visa’s regional marketing efforts. She also sits on the Asia Pacific Executive Leadership team. Prior to her present role she was the International Marketing Director at Twitter for all territories outside of the US and was responsible for global business marketing for the platform, its partners and users. Prior to Twitter, she held several leadership roles in advertising and strategy consulting, including Ogilvy & Mather, and Y&R in Asia and the US. Freddie was named the most influential CMO for Excellence in Branding and Marketing at the World Brand Congress.
Shahvez Afridi – Global Strategy Director on Unilever, MullenLowe Singapore
Prior to his role at MullenLowe, Shahvez was the Head of Marketing at Zimplistic Inventions, a kitchen robotics start-up. Before that, he was Head of Strategy, P&G Asia-Pacific at Grey Group. A planner with a background in engineering and design, Shahvez has over 20 years of end-to-end consumer insight, brand strategy and marketing experience. Shahvez is one of the most awarded planners in Asia, having won every major strategy and effectiveness award internationally and regionally. He has been on many effectiveness juries and has also been invited as guest speaker at several universities in India, Thailand and Singapore.
Sajju Ambat – CSO, Wunderman Thompson, Vietnam
Sajju has an advertising and consulting career spanning 17 years. He has worked as a planner/strategist across markets in Asia, South East Asia, Middle East and North Africa, managing strategy for Unilever, Nestlé, Renault, General Mills, Sanofi, Perfetti, Etisalat, Pepsi and J&J. His work under brand strategy and marketing effectiveness has been recognised at Jay Chiat Day, the WARC Prize for Asian Strategy and AMES. In 2014, he won a prestigious Lion at Cannes. His work on mobile and digital platforms has won at MMA, MOBEX, EPICA, MENA Cristal, SPIKES and Tambuli.
Neeraj Bassi – CSO and Managing Partner, Publicis Worldwide, India
Having earned the moniker of ‘the solution man’ among those close to him, Neeraj loves to work on ideas that resonate with consumers, become part of their life and help in spreading joy. Neeraj is armed with over two decades of professional experience and has worked with some of the top ad agencies (Ogilvy, JWT, McCann) and market research networks (TNS, IMRB, NFO) in India and abroad. Across the projects he has worked on, he always focused on finding a simple, innovative solution to the client’s business problems, thereby leading to sustainable growth of the brand. Neeraj was also the recipient of multiple awards across reputed award forums that recognise effectiveness like the Effies (India and APAC), AME and WARC.
Monica Bhathia – Senior Vice President, Client Partner, APAC, Essence
Monica is Senior Vice President, Client Partner, APAC at Essence, a global data and measurement-driven media agency which is part of GroupM. At Essence, Monica leads the agency’s Google media business to promote its consumer and B2B products in APAC. She oversees Essence’s integrated offering for Google, and thrives using media, creativity, and technology to create breakthrough work. Prior to Essence, Monica was Regional Digital Director, APAC at Maxus, where she built its digital product proposition across 14 markets in the region. Monica is a strong advocate for women in leadership and actively champions this topic through initiatives in the workplace, and across industry platforms and publications.
Eileen Borromeo – Head of Marketing, South East Asia, Payoneer
Eileen has recently joined a financial technology company hoping to use her creativity and rebellious streak to create even more demand for the cross-border payments platform across the region. She was recognised by adobo magazine as the Philippines’ top planner before leaving the advertising industry. Eileen remains a strategist at heart and still endeavours to help start-ups, non-profits and brands find their way.
Marcus Chew – Chief Marketing Officer, NTUC Income
As Chief Marketing Officer, Marcus oversees brand marketing, public relations, events, product development and marketing, corporate social responsibilities, e-commerce and consumer insights at NTUC Income and is a member of the company’s Executive Committee. Prior to joining NTUC Income, Marcus was Brand Marketing Director at adidas China, where he led a team of 12 to a Gold Effie Award for a marketing campaign for women that also successfully clinched a 30% increase in market share for the company. Before his move to China, Marcus was Head of Brand Marketing at adidas Singapore and South-East Asia. During his tenure there, Marcus was named one of Marketing Magazine’s Industry Top 25 Rising Stars under 35 for his impressive portfolio of award-winning marketing campaigns which also overdelivered on business targets.
Ian Dolan – Head of Strategy and Planning, PHD China
Ian began his career with PHD UK in 2007. In 2012, he joined PHD Dubai as Planning Director, overseeing key accounts. In 2014, he became Senior Director of Strategy, a pivotal role in new business development, which saw him enhance the agency planning output and innovation agenda. In 2016, Ian was named Head of Strategy and Content where he led strategy planning for the agency and was heavily involved in new business development. In 2018 Ian moved to PHD Shanghai, where he now oversees Strategy and Planning across China for core PHD accounts including Volkswagen Group and HSBC. Throughout his career, Ian has been passionate about creativity and challenging conventions in media planning.
Joseph Fan – Chief Strategy Officer, Ogilvy Beijing
Joseph is a bilingual and multi-cultural business leader in China, with global experience in corporate strategy, customer and market strategy, branding and communications, customer experience, commerce, and MarTech topics across FMCG, retail, automotive, travel and leisure, B2B, and TMT. He is a creative problem solver who is passionate about bridging seemingly contrasting views. He believes the best solutions to problems are often at the intersection of science and art, data and creativity, logic and a bit of magic.
Natalie Gruis – Head of Strategy, International, TBWA
Daphne is committed to making data simple for business strategy. In her current role, she is shaping how Essence’s clients think about, organise and orchestrate data and technology, to deliver more timely, engaging and meaningful brand experiences for their customers. Daphne has more than 18 years of experience in EMEA and APAC from her stints on both the technology and agency sides. Before she joined Essence in Sydney, Australia, Daphne worked at Google in Copenhagen as Senior Industry Manager, Programmatic. Prior to Google, she worked at Adobe and ZenithOptimedia.
Sharon Ho – Managing Director, Digitas
Sharon Ho has 20 years of experience in traditional and digital communications. She has worked in some of the world’s most renowned 4A agencies across Hong Kong and China. She has a proved track record successfully helping clients from the likes of Nike, Unilever, and Burberry, execute digital strategy and transformation. Most recently she has taken on the role of Managing Director at Digitas, China, known as the connected marketing agency, and a part of Publicis Groupe.
Siddhant Lahiri – Head of Strategic Planning, Rediffusion Y&R
With a decade’s experience as a strategist, Siddhant has worked in agencies including J. Walter Thompson and DDB Mudra on both the Delhi and the Mumbai markets. He comes with abundant expertise in both major global brands as well as small-and-medium sized entrepreneurs, and he has contributed extensively to the communication strategies for Tata, Pepsi, Unilever, Godrej and Hershey’s. He has won several industry awards, including the Asian Marketing Effectiveness & Strategy Awards (AMES), Effies, and the WARC Prize for Asian Strategy. He has been chosen as a member of the ‘HiP Club’, a global selection of High Potential Employees chosen from across the worldwide J. Walter Thompson network.
Andreas Moellmann – Chief Experience Officer APAC, Geometry Global Japan
Andreas is a seasoned brand strategist at the intersection of business and marketing, creativity and technology. After setting up and managing strategic planning departments at network agencies (BBDO, DDB, Saatchi & Saatchi) and digital agencies (SapientNitro, Isobar) in different parts of the world, he joined Geometry Global Japan in 2017. His focus lies in connecting brand and marketing thinking with digital understanding to help the digital transformation of brands – and increasingly of business as well. His work has been internationally recognised through both effectiveness and creativity awards.
Tuomas Peltoniemi – EVP, Managing Director APAC, R/GA
Tuomas is responsible for growing and managing R/GA’s Asia-Pacific offices. He has worked at the intersection of technology, strategy and creativity across three continents for nearly two decades. He joined R/GA from TBWA, where he served as President, Asia, Digital and Innovation, growing their digital capabilities and spearheading innovation across the region. Tuomas has been featured as Campaign Asia-Pacific’s ‘40 Under 40’, awarded Asia-Pacific Digital Network Agency Head of the Year, and is an industry speaker, commentator and awards judge. He’s also a start-up mentor and a guest lecturer at various MBA programmes.
David Porter – Vice President Media, Unilever AAR (Asia, Africa, Middle East, Turkey and Russia)
David is responsible for one of the largest media budgets in a diverse region spanning 14 time zones. He is responsible for driving the company’s innovation in Communications Channel Planning with a strong focus on Unilever’s development as a major force in digital marketing in the region. David was educated at Dulwich College, London and the Open University Business School, UK. He spent 25 years in UK agencies before a seven-year stint with Mindshare in Asia Pacific, where he managed the agency’s multimarket relationship with Unilever. He joined Unilever in 2010 and has managed its media operations in multiple markets including APAC.
Amrita Randhawa – CEO, Mindshare Asia Pacific and Executive Chair, Mindshare Greater China
Amrita was appointed to her current position in March 2018. Becoming CEO of Mindshare China at just 34 in 2013, she led it so it topped every agency rankings. Following the Greater China remit in 2016, she led the turnaround of Mindshare Taiwan and Hong Kong. She is obsessively client and talent centric in her approach and is a mentor for many in the network. Amrita has won countless accolades, including Business Leader of the Year and CEO of the Year at the Women Leading Change awards.
Johanan Sen – Chief Strategy Officer, One Singapore, Dentsu Aegis Network
Whether awakening the Force in a new generation of Star Wars fans or growing market share for Huawei, Joe leads diverse, interdisciplinary teams to new levels of success with the strategic thinking needed to move markets. Currently the Chief Strategy Officer for Dentsu’s One Singapore Media Group of Brands (Carat, dentsu X, iProspect and Vizeum), Joe works across strategic consulting, data-driven marketing, creative advertising, business planning and service design.
Kawal Shoor – Planner and Founding Partner, The Womb
Kawal has been a planner for as long as he can remember. Having worked with Rediffusion, Triton and TBWA, Kawal found his calling at Ogilvy in 2004. From 2004 to 2015, Kawal led the development of marque campaigns for iconic brands like Cadbury Dairy Milk, Bournvita, Five Star, Tata Sky, ITC Foods, Titan, etc. Some of the most famous campaigns on the above have originated from his thinking.
John Woodward – Chief Strategy Officer, McCann Worldgroup Japan
In 1988, John joined Leo Burnett as a graduate trainee in London, before transferring to Milan where he was promoted to run, among others, the Kellogg’s business. In 1995, he moved to Australia, where he was the planning lead on Woolworths and Bundaberg Rum. In 2000, he was promoted to Regional Planning Director, Asia-Pacific, working on, among other accounts, Coca-Cola, Procter & Gamble and McDonald’s. In 2007, he relocated to Paris and to Publicis as Global Head of Planning. He moved to Japan as Chief Strategy Officer at McCann Worldgroup in 2015, charged with driving integration on key clients and setting long-term agency strategy.
Kaori Yatsu – Head of Planning, BBDO Japan
Kaori joined BBDO Japan in 2016 as Head of Planning after a long stint at McCann Erickson, where she developed strategies for some of the world's best-known brands – including L’Oréal, Nestlé and Coca-Cola – and leading the development of Walmart Japan’s private label, which won Japan’s prestigious Good Design Award. At BBDO Japan, she oversees strategy for all brands under BBDO Japan such as Mars, Visa, HP and Starbucks. Under her leadership, BBDO Japan has already won several effectiveness awards including a WARC Awards Silver for Effective Social Strategy.
