  • Allegheny Health Network (AHN) was formed in 2013 after Highmark Health, its parent company, bought seven hospitals in Western Pennsylvania and joined them together under one not-for-profit brand umbrella.
  • Given it was a new entity, the fledgling brand naturally trailed the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), the leading healthcare player in the market, in terms of unaided awareness.
