India's hope for the Olympics, the world's youngest marathon runner, the wonder child – there are many a name that Budhia Singh is known by. He was a legend at the age of 5, a young boy from the slums of Odisha, a small state in India who was born to run. His largest achievement is completing a record breaking run from Puri to Bhubaneshwar, which is a massive 65km, in the sweltering 50-degree heat in 7 hours, 2 mins.
One in 1.25 billion, he had a chance to add to the 28 medals that India had won thus far in the Olympics, given the right training and encouragement.
But Budhia's dreams were shattered when the Orissa state authorities banned him from long-distance running. Budhia today is 15 years old, stands 5 ft 7' and is craving to run. But the ban still continues.
