ATLANTA, Georgia: The world's largest home improvement retailer, Home Depot, has rebuffed demands by green activists that it pull ads for its new Eco Options range from Fox News - a channel that toes the NewsCorp line that global warming is nothing more than liberal hysteria.

In an appeal to Home Depot, activist filmmaker Robert Greenwald argues: "You can't say we're green and give money to an organization that day after day, week after week and month after month says that global warming is something that is made up by a few kooky scientists."

But Ron Jarvis, vp for environmental innovation at the retail giant is unmoved, despite his claim when launching the Eco Options range in April that it was "a further testament to [the firm's] commitment to sustainability and to help its customers choose ways to have less of an impact on the environment."

Insists Jarvis: "It's not our place to judge Fox News's position or any other media outlet's position on global warning. Nor will we try to influence that position with our advertising dollars. We're advertisers, not censors."

Greenwald's short video, Fox Attacks: The Environment, has been viewed more than 380,000 times since it was posted on YouTube on July 9.
