Objectives
In 2018, tourists in the Faroe Islands exceeded inhabitants by two to one. Infrastructure like walking trails, signage, fences and waste management was not scaled to fit the increase in visitors. Tourism was increasingly perceived as a problem by nearly one third of the local population. This created a paradox for Visit Faroe Islands, whose job was to increase tourism without the adequate infrastructure and with a declining approval rating from residents. The objectives were to:
