The future of news in Australia: balancing tech vs content

The Australian publishing industry is not in decline, it's simply evolving.

Chris Janz, Managing Director of Australian Metro Publishing for Fairfax Media, told the Inform News Media Summit in Sydney that, alongside News Corp, the publisher is investing more in Australian journalism than any other organisation.

"We invest hundreds of millions of dollars in journalism across very big newsrooms every year. Yes, those newsrooms are not the size and scale that they were when they were producing newspapers that were 300 pages thick," he said.
