Half of online shoppers get product inspiration from Amazon

An overview of where online shoppers get product inspiration and start their product search.

Amazon helps half (52%) of consumers get product inspiration, according to a survey by Wunderman Thompson Commerce of online shoppers in Australia, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, the UK and the US in February and March 2020.

Wunderman Thompson Commerce suggests that although Amazon is usually considered as 'transactional', the user interface and range of products available means it is ideal to get ideas on future purchase decisions.

However, Amazon as a source of inspiration is less common in some markets – falling to 20% of online shoppers in Australia and 12% in the Netherlands.
