Iraq, a country located between two rivers, the Tigris and the Euphrates, has frequently seen conflict and bloodshed. However, many may not be aware of its contribution towards the history of civilisation – it is widely accepted that writing first began here and Iraq introduced the zero into mathematics. Within Iraq one can find the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and the Garden of Eden. The Southern city of Diyala is believed to be the origin of civilisation.
