Situation Analysis
Despite sustained awareness and policy initiatives, India continues to remain the leprosy capital of the world, recording highest new infections every year as new cases go undetected. This is largely because early symptoms of leprosy are not alarming and easily ignored. Also, detection requires close inspection of body and skin resisted by people who do not want to visit a detection centre. There was a need for an alternative, trusted, and deeply penetrated way for detecting early cases.
