WX: Removing the barriers for a career in PR

WX, a communications agency, wanted to remove the barriers of an entry-level career in PR, increase diversity and inspire the wider industry to take action.

Objective

Talk to anyone in the PR industry and they say the same thing: there is a shortage of talent, especially at entry level. In fact, talent - or lack thereof it - is the number one issue, according to a 2019 PR Week survey of the UK's top 150 PR agencies.

According to the government's Social Mobility Commission Report (2019), entry into professional occupations is largely dependent on parents' careers. Children from professional backgrounds are 80% more likely to go into a professional occupation than their less privileged peers, thanks to their connections and their stronger educational qualifications.
