Social media is driving mobile commerce growth

An overview of mobile e-commerce traffic growth and acquisition channels in Europe and North America.

Social media has been the quickest growing source of e-commerce traffic, indicating the growing potential of social commerce, according to data from commerce experience company Bloomreach.

Mobile e-commerce traffic that came from social media grew by over three-quarters year-on-year in Europe (+80%) and North America (+77%) in October and November 2020, the quickest growing channel.

In comparison, search traffic continues to grow but at a slower rate – search engine traffic rose 31% in Europe and 14% in North America. However, paid search traffic to mobile commerce sites fell in Europe, dropping 11%.
