Pinterest earned over $1bn from advertising in 2019, according to the latest company reports, with $400m made in the fourth quarter of 2019 alone.
Advertising to users in the United States continues to account for the majority of this, taking an 87.5% share – equal to $350m – in Q4 2019. This represents strong year-on-year growth of 36.2%, but continues a slowdown since Q3 2018.
International advertising revenue reached $50m in Q4 2019, near double the $28m earned in the previous quarter. Year-on-year growth in Q4 2019 reached 194.1% following a period of continued triple-figure growth throughout the year.
