Mobile gaming bucked the downturn in advertising budgets last year and accelerated its advertising revenue growth, according to data from game development company Unity.
Across the 15 mobile game categories analysed, 13 of them saw their growth in advertising revenue quicken between 2019 and 2020. For eight of the categories, growth rates for mobile ad revenue more than doubled last year – action games saw a 1.9% rise in 2019 and this rose to 51.8% growth in 2020.
