Half of online consumers have used voice or visual search in the past month

An overview of consumer use of voice and visual search globally and in specific regions.

Voice and visual search have reached a key point of growth in 2020 – globally, half (47%) of online consumers have used either feature in the past month, according to data from GlobalWebIndex.

Both are equally popular, with 34% of internet users having used voice search on their mobile in the past month, an increase from 25% in 2017. One-third (33%) also say they have used an image recognition tool like Google Lens or Pinterest Lens in the past month.
