ByteDance and Kuaishou account for nearly one-quarter of mobile activity

An overview of mobile activity in China between 2019 and 2020.

ByteDance now reaches two-thirds (67.2%) of Chinese mobile internet users while Kuaishou has seen its reach grow by a quarter, according to data from QuestMobile and China Internet Watch.

However, the BAT group continues to dominate the mobile landscape. Tencent leads with a 96.3% share of mobile internet users, while Alibaba's reach has grown 2.4 percentage points to 95.3%.

As a result, ByteDance and Kuaishou were the only two companies to grow their share of mobile app consumption. ByteDance takes a 15.4% share, up from 12.0% last year, while Kuaishou has overtaken Alibaba with a 7.2% share.
