Eating at home to become the 'new normal' in APAC after COVID-19

Eating at home is to be the 'new normal' for consumers in Asia Pacific when the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak ends, according to data from Nielsen. In eight of the 11 markets surveyed, at least half of consumers said they will eat at home more often after the outbreak ends.

An increase in eating at home is most visible in the Chinese Mainland, where 86% of consumers say they will do this more often post-outbreak. This falls to 77% in Hong Kong and a still high 62% in Malaysia, South Korea and Vietnam. Stockpiling and using in-home treats...
