Retail has suffered more than most categories over the past two years. With doors closed for much of the pandemic, nearly all outlets suffered drastic footfall decline. This caused extreme behaviour shifts as consumers moved online, whilst supply chain pressures left retailers struggling to fulfil demand.
Since the end of lockdown, shoppers have gradually returned in-store. Even so, progress has been tepid and variable by sector and market. Despite the UK having the fastest recovery levels amongst European counterparts, British Retail Consortium figures show footfall in shopping centres was down by 33% in October 2021on October 2019....
