Online travel has grown five-fold in Asia Pacific over the last decade, according to Maggie Rauch, Senior Director of Research and Head Analyst at Phocuswright.
This represents “an incredible shift” in the travel market over the past decade, Rauch argued at the Web in Travel (WiT) Singapore conference.
“In 2009, the US was the world leader with about 38% online travel penetration. APAC was almost half of that at 17%,” she claimed. “Now in 2019, the US has worked its way up steadily to 50%, and Asia Pacific is right behind at 47%.”
