Finn Partners was asked to communicate on the collaboration between Avast and the Cybercrime Fighting Centre (C3N) of the French National Gendarmerie. Together, they took down a malicious worm, known as Retadup, that had infected hundreds of thousands of Windows machines in Latin America (850,000), and of which infrastructure was mostly located in France.
At the end of March 2019, Avast contacted the C3N of the French National Gendarmerie to share their findings. Some parts of the infrastructure were also located in the US. Therefore, the Gendarmerie alerted the FBI who took them down, and on July 8,...
