Gaming activity grew quickest among older Americans in 2020

An overview of growth in time spent gaming and spending on video games in the United States among older audiences.

Gaming consumption and spend grew rapidly in the United States in 2020, though it was older consumers who registered the biggest increase, according to data from market research company The NPD Group.

Among Americans of all ages, the time spent gaming in 2020 rose by one-quarter (26%). However, among those 45 to 54 years old, this rose by a far quicker 59%. Even for those older than 55, the time spent gaming grew by 45%–48%.
