The Advertising Association is planning to host a global Ad Net Zero conference in November next year as part of COP26.

“We want to demonstrate real progress that UK industry has made in terms of Ad Net Zero,” said Advertising Association CEO Stephen Woodford during yesterday’s launch of the UK initiative.

“The sort of leadership that companies here are showing is going to be critically important to that.” And the plan also has the backing of the UK Government, he added.

The news comes as that same government set out a ten-point plan for a green industrial revolution and confirmed the intention to end the sale of new petrol and diesel cars and vans by 2030, ten years earlier than planned.

“Big companies are moving incredibly fast,” Woodford noted. “If you’re running a car company, you’ve got to be planning for the future on this. They’re all ahead of the curve.

“What will be the key driver from our industry is to encourage people to buy those products. We can be part of the change.”
