The UK Advertiser of the Month for October 2021 is Marks & Spencer.

The high street retailer saw its Ad Awareness score – which tracks how many people have seen a particular ad in the past two weeks – rise from 22.9 to 29.9 between September 26 and October 25: an improvement of seven points over the four-week period.

October was a month of high activity for M&S in a number of areas: the brand revealed its new Christmas collection – including the returning, controversial ‘Yumnuts’some well-received fashion items, and its beauty advent calendar, among other things. All in all, it appears consumers are paying attention to the brand’s promotions – which will no doubt come as good news to the retailer’s marketers in advance of the festive season.

Methodology: BrandIndex collects data on thousands of brands every day. A brand’s Ad Awareness score is based on the question: “Which of the following consumer brands have you seen an advertisement for in the past two weeks?” and delivered as a percentage. The data is based on the interviews of UK adults aged 18+ between September 25 and October 24, 2021. Learn more about BrandIndex.
