Messaging service WhatsApp incorporated its disappearing messages feature into bathroom mirrors to drive online engagement and demonstrate how the app's privacy features provide women with a safe space.

Over 70% of women in India have been victims of domestic abuse due to a complex combination of long-held views and beliefs. Not only do women feel physically and mentally unsafe – but they also struggle with reaching out to friends, isolating them further due to the shame and stigma of speaking out.

Yet 73 percent of women said they would open up about sensitive issues if a friend reaches out to them in private. Trusted friends then become a powerful tool in dealing with or escaping from a situation.
