Smart speakers have traditionally been used in the living room and for basic tasks like streaming music but the device is set to broaden its reach, according to data from technology company Qualcomm.
Among consumers in China, Germany, Japan, the UK and the US, one-half of smart speaker owners say they use the device for streaming music. Over two-fifths also use the device for weather updates (44%) and news updates (41%).
